Another pile of rain last night – it’s making up for lost time – and so we went down to collect all the split tomatoes. A very large beetroot and a few beans came home in the basket too.
The latest mystery plant from the meadow mix has now bloomed and revealed itself to be safflower, or “bastard saffron”. If the bloom lasts a reasonable time, I’ll have to save some seed as it’s a pretty plant.
It’s all so colourful at the moment, it’s that phase where it makes a lovely impression when you arrive at the plot.
