Watering and good weeding around all the pumpkins today. Some of the ornamental squashes are now turning bobbly, which is exciting. One of the Becky pumpkins is also starting to turn orange. I fed all the squash with tomato food to give them a boost.

Mr H visited to be nosey while he waited for the fire he’d set under some wasps to take effect.  I invited him in to see the squash. He says that the blight on the tomatoes was inevitable, coming from a few plots over where a guy had planted a patch of potatoes probably bigger than my plot. It’s been a hard year, he said. Not a total disaster though, as this pile of tomatoes and runner beans shows.
