I went down to water and found that the sweetcorn is ridiculously huge – the middle one in particular.

One moved French bean was looking decidedly peaky. On a different plant though, the first pods are appearing. I need to find out when I should pick them.

The verbena is doing some good screening work, but isn’t yet as bushy as it has been in previous years. I’m not sure if it’s going to thicken up over the summer, or if it’s thrown out quite new, young shoots from last year. I need to compare autumnal cutting with the subsequent summer display from previous years.
