Time to do the nematode treatment again. The ground was wet and heavy rain is due tonight and tomorrow, just as the instructions desire. The powder seemed a bit lumpier this time and got a bit stuck in the big rose. However the solution also seemed to go much further and we were able to water all the beds, plus the border flower beds pretty liberally. We mixed half the powder with 5 litres of water, then took about half a litre of the solution and added it to 5 litres of water for spreading. Note for next year – a 500ml measure would be handy! All in all, it was about an hour and a half of pretty good exercise.
I chopped off a bit of couch grass at the edge of one bed and revealed my little toad, sitting among some slugs the same size as him. Fortunately, he kept his head down as the blades went overhead!
