I did the deadheading and cut grass the around gourds as best I could. I’ve managed to get a few more of the gourds onto tiles to protect them, but they can be difficult to manoeuvre, being very willful and surrounded by vicious spikes.

I’ve finally sown a somewhat haphazard row of carrot and beetroot in the middle of veg 1 – where the radishes were a while ago. We might just get something from them before the season is over.

Harvest: runner beans, tomatoes (many of which have split due to the rain), the first rainbow cherry tomatoes and some cucamelons. The first hyssop is now flowering.
