John and Co. came down to the allotment today and John did great work on filling my water butts, actually ferrying them right to the pump in my chariot barrow. None of this silly back and forth with the watering can business. The girls helped me plant some black eyed susan, marigold and zinnia seedlings from home and we put little plastic collars around them in an attempt to keep the slugs away.
